This maple apple crisp will give you ALL the Fall feels with sweet and tart apples, warm spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves, and so much maple flavor. This crisp has a thick layer of sweet, gooey, maple-flavored apples, and an addicting brown sugar cinnamon crisp layer.

1tablespoonmaple extractoptional
2teaspoonsground cinnamon
¼teaspoonground nutmeg
¼teaspoonground cloves
¼teaspoonsalt
¼cup(31grams)all purpose flourspooned and leveled
Crisp Layer
1 ⅓cups(113grams)old fashioned rolled oats
1 ½cups(188grams)all purpose flourspooned and leveled
1cup(200grams)brown sugarpacked
2teaspoonsground cinnamon
¾cup(170grams)unsalted buttercold and cubed
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375F and grease your 13x9 inch pan with butter.
Peel and slice the apples into ⅛ - ¼ inch slices. Place them inside a bowl with the maple syrup, maple extract (if using), ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground cloves, salt, and all purpose flour.
Toss together until all the ingredients are evenly distributed and the apples are evenly coated. Layer the apples inside your baking dish. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the oats, flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. Using a pastry cutter or your hands, add the cold and cubed butter and cut the butter into the mixture until the butter is fully incorporated and no larger chunks remain.
Layer the crisp topping on top of the apples in your baking dish.
Bake for 10 minutes at 375F, then, without opening the oven door, decrease the temperature to 350F and bake for another 33-35 minutes. The crisp will be lightly golden and the apples will be bubbling.
Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 20 minutes. Enjoy slightly warm or wait until it has completely cooled. Top with ice cream and dive in!
Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
Notes
The grams of apple refers to apple slices, not the whole apple.
