These chocolate frosted donuts are incredibly light & fluffy, perfectly moist, topped with the BEST chocolate glaze, and of course, sprinkles! This recipe is an easy alternative to a deep-fried donut - a simple but delicious breakfast treat!
Preheat the oven to 350F and lightly grease a donut pan.
Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
1 3/4 cup all purpose flour, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt
Separately, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, egg, yogurt, and milk until combined. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and whisk until a batter forms.
1/4 cup unsalted butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1 egg, 1/2 cup yogurt, 1/2 cup whole milk
Use a piping bag to carefully fill the donut cavities. If you don't have a piping bag, a sandwich bag with the corner cut off also works!
Bake for 10-12 minutes. To test, gently press your finger into the top of the donut. It is ready if the donut bounces back.
Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Remove from the pan & place onto a cooling rack while you make the frosting.
To make the chocolate frosting, melt together the chocolate, butter, corn syrup, and water. This can be done in the microwave in 20 second increments or over the stove.
1 cup semi-sweet chopped chocolate or chocolate chips, 1/4 cup unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon light corn syrup, 1 tablespoon water
Once the donuts are cool enough to handle, dip one side of the donut into the chocolate frosting. Top with sprinkles & let set. Enjoy!
